October 27th 1985:

The Kansas City Royals win Game 7 of the World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals 11-0. Pitcher Bret Saberhagen pitched a 5-hit shutout.

 

October 27th 1996:

The New York Yankees win their first World Series since 1978, beating the defending champion Braves 3-2 in Game 6. The Yankees went on to win 4 out of 5 World Series including 1996.
